Filippa Gojo – vocals, kaoss pad, keys

Als ihr Jazzgesang-Studium sie an die Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Köln führte, war sie nach kurzer Zeit schon mit deutschen Jazz-Größen und renommierten Klangkörpern wie der WDR Bigband, sowie ihrem eigenen Quartett mitten im Geschehen.
Weitere Inspirationen und Erfahrungen sammelte sie bei einem Auslandssemester am “Conservatorium van Amsterdam” im Wintersemester 2010/2011.
Nach ihrem Diplomabschluss in Jazzgesang an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Köln machte Filippa ihren Master ebenfalls in ihrer Wahlheimat. 2014 wurde sie als erste Sängerin mit dem Förderstipendium der Stadt Köln für Jazz und improvisierte Musik, dem Horst und Gretl Will Stipendium, ausgezeichnet, 2015 erhielt sie mit ihrem “Filippa Gojo Quartett” sowohl den Bandpreis des NEUEN DEUTSCHEN JAZZPREISES, als auch den Solistenpreis.
Von 2016 bis 2023 war Filippa Gojo Dozentin für Jazz- Popgesang an der Musikhochschule Freiburg. Seit 2023 ist sie Professorin an der Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg.

When her jazz singing studies took her to the Cologne University of Music and Dance, she was soon at the heart of the action, performing with leading German jazz artists and renowned ensembles such as the WDR Big Band, as well as with her own quartet.
She gained further inspiration and experience during a semester abroad at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the winter term of 2010/2011.
After graduating with a diploma in jazz singing from the Cologne University of Music and Dance, Filippa went on to complete her Master’s degree in her adopted home. In 2014, she became the first singer to be awarded the City of Cologne’s scholarship for jazz and improvised music, the Horst and Gretl Will Scholarship; in 2015, she received both the band prize and the soloist prize at the NEW GERMAN JAZZ AWARDS with her “Filippa Gojo Quartet”.
From 2016 to 2023, Filippa Gojo was a lecturer in jazz and pop singing at the Freiburg University of Music. Since 2023, she has been a professor at the Nuremberg University of Music.

Stephan Mattner – soprano sax, computer, keys

bewegt sich als Saxophonist, Komponist und Arrangeur souverän zwischen Tradition und Moderne.
Er studierte klassisches Saxophon und Instrumentalpädagogik an der Musikhochschule Detmold/Abteilung Dortmund sowie Jazzsaxophon an der Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen bei Prof. Hugo Read und Matthias Nadolny. Ergänzt wurde seine Ausbildung durch Kurse unter anderem bei den „Tagen für Neue Musik Darmstadt“. Während des Studiums war er Mitglied des LandesJugendJazzOrchesters NRW und wirkte als Assistenzdozent an der Musikhochschule Dortmund.

Seine künstlerische Tätigkeit führte ihn mit vielfältigen Ensembles auf nahezu alle bedeutenden deutschen Jazzbühnen und Festivals sowie innerhalb Europas, Australien und Indien. Internationale Kooperationen und Konzertreisen entstanden in Zusammenarbeit mit den Goethe-Instituten in Frankreich, Italien, Spanien und Indien. Beim Internationalen Jazzfestival Montreux erreichte er das Halbfinale der renommierten International Saxophone Competition.

Rundfunk- und Fernsehproduktionen für WDR, MDR, BR und Deutschlandfunk dokumentieren sein breites musikalisches Wirken. Neben seiner künstlerischen Arbeit engagiert sich Stephan Mattner regelmäßig als Juror, unter anderem bei der Bundesbegegnung Jugend jazzt und beim Landes-Orchesterwettbewerb NRW. Darüber hinaus lehrt er als Dozent für Saxophon an der Universität Siegen.
Als gefragter Gast in großformatigen Jazz- und Contemporary-Ensembles war Stephan Mattner in unterschiedlichsten Projekten aktiv – unter anderem in der WDR Big Band, dem Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, der Christina Fuchs Big Band, dem Thoneline Orchestra und weiteren Formationen des modernen Jazz.

As a saxophonist, composer and arranger, he moves with ease between tradition and modernity.
He studied classical saxophone and instrumental pedagogy at the Detmold University of Music (Dortmund campus), as well as jazz saxophone at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen under Prof. Hugo Read and Matthias Nadolny. His training was supplemented by courses at, among others, the ‘Tage für Neue Musik Darmstadt’. During his studies, he was a member of the LandesJugendJazzOrchester NRW and worked as an assistant lecturer at the Dortmund University of Music.
His artistic activities have taken him, with a variety of ensembles, to almost all major German jazz venues and festivals, as well as across Europe, Australia and India. International collaborations and concert tours have taken place in partnership with the Goethe-Instituts in France, Italy, Spain and India. At the Montreux International Jazz Festival, he reached the semi-finals of the prestigious International Saxophone Competition.
Radio and television productions for WDR, MDR, BR and Deutschlandfunk document his wide-ranging musical output. Alongside his artistic work, Stephan Mattner regularly serves as a judge, including at the national ‘Jugend jazzt’ competition and the NRW State Orchestra Competition. He also teaches saxophone as a lecturer at the University of Siegen.
As a sought-after guest musician in large-scale jazz and contemporary ensembles, Stephan Mattner has been involved in a wide variety of projects – including the WDR Big Band, the Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, the Christina Fuchs Big Band, the Thoneline Orchestra and other modern jazz ensembles.
